My husband has 4 years of experience in his field & is pursuing his masters degree online. He’d like to go further & even get his PhD. He’s really enjoyed doing school online & thought the instructors were great. He’s heard that online college instructors can make around $150,000 but I kind of doubt that. Does anyone know the average salary for online college instructors

Speaking as a college instructor who’s taught both on campus and online, let me say that it can vary school to school. And department to department.
It also depends on whether you’re a full timer or a part timer. As a full timer, you may not be teaching all your classes online. You may teach some online and others on campus. So you’d be collecting your regular salary no matter which format. But some schools do pay extra to their online instructors.
And there’s a difference between teaching at a school that only offers online instruction vs those that offer on campus too.
My advice is for him to contact some schools saying he’d like to do some online teaching and find out what they pay.
